Received a few calls from this number today. Initially it was a woman who, without introducing herself, told me she was calling to help with my computer. No specific details. So I played along. I asked what she needed and she told me to switch in my computer so she could help. I asked where she was calling from and she said “Windows”.

She passed me on to someone else who introduced himself as the “senior supervisor”.
He asked if I had a pc or laptop, then told me to turn it on, simultaneously press the Windows + R buttons and type in an address that would allow him to remote into my pc.

I dragged things out a bit. So when he told me to type something, I’d say “ok, just starting my pc again”. When he asked me to press two keys at once, I’d say “I pressed one, do you want me to press the other now or later”. He got really frustrated and started shouting “who told you to do that” at which point I’d apologise and tell him I’d rebooted my computer so I could start again”. I could hear him mumbling in the background and getting annoyed but he was persistent.

Eventually, he figured I was messing with him. I told him to get a job and hung up. He’s called back 7/8 times in a row but I’ve just answered and hung up again. Seemed to really frustrate him but eventually they’ve left me alone.

Definitely a scam. I can see how vulnerable people could be scammed by these idiots.

So.... Ask them for a number you can call back on. Call the company they’re claiming to be from using the information on the company’s website. And most importantly, know that “Windows” is not a company. It’s a Microsoft program.
